VETERINARY ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a very safe medical procedure when
performed by a qualified veterinarian.
The vast majority of patients experience no
discomfort and often become more relaxed as the
procedure progresses. Human patients report a
"tingling" sensation or "heavy" feeling at needle
insertion points. Many clients report that their
pets are very relaxed and sleep well after a
treatment.
Acupuncture is often used in veterinary medicine
to treat musculoskeletal, neurological, pulmonary,
gastrointestinal, reproductive and dermatological
problems. The most common conditions are
intervertebral disc disease, degenerative
myelopathy, central nervous disorders, asthma,
and chronic pain from degenerative join disease.
Acupuncture sessions will take from 20 minutes
to one hour depending on the treatments required.
The number of treatments depends on the condition
being treated, the severity and duration of
disease. Chronic diseases can be most challenging
to treat and may require long term treatment.
In general most conditions require 3 to 5 treatments
before improvement is observed.
