Dr.Kline is a 4th generation native of Modesto.  He
graduated from U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine
in 1960.  In 1965 he opened College Veterinary Hospital
and over the years has developed a well known and
respected practice.  Dr. Kline continues to find
veterinary medicine very challenging and still
practices on a limited basis.  With Village Oak
Veterinary Hospital opening in 2001, and Northgate
Veterinary Hospital opening in 2004, his focus
has turned to practice development and management.

Dr.Kline has always been active in the community, and
supports many groups, including A.R.C. Stanislaus,
Hanot Foundation,and Future Farmers of America.  He
currently is an active member of Modesto Gateway Rotary
and the Old Fisherman's Club.

 

Sean M. Fitzpatrick, DVM

 Dr. Fitzpatricks interest in animals was
fostered from a young age by his experiences
growing up on a ranch in Sonora. He went on
to complete his undergraduate studies at
California Polytechnic University in San Luis
Obispo, where he earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in Dairy Science as well as a minor
in psycology.  Dr. Fitzpatrick then enrolled
in the University of California at Davis where
he completed his postgraduate courses and
received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine
degree in 1998.  He has been in general
practice ever since, where he has a strong
interest in veterinary surgery and dentistry. 

 In his free time, he enjoys cycling of all
kinds, relaxing at home with his dogs,
and is an avid motocross enthusiast...

 

Travis Atkins, DVM

Dr. Atkins was born in Bryan, Texas, just outside
of College Station, where both his parents attended
Texas A&M.  His family moved to California in 1986. 
He is a graduate of the University of California,
Davis, where he received both his undergraduate
degree in Agriculture Systems and Environment,
and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.
Prior to obtaining his Veterinary degree, Dr. Atkins
worked in the pet nutrition industry.

Dr. Atkins lives in Tracy with his wife and two dogs. 
Away from the hospital Dr. Atkins enjoys being outdoors,
golfing, and watching theGiants (hopefully winning).

 

 

Cathy Schmall, DVM

Dr. Schmall joined our team in August of 2006. 
She completed her undergraduate studies at Humbolt
State University in Arcata, California where
she earned her Bachelors Degree in Biology.
After several years spent as a wildlife biologist,
she changed careers and received her Doctorate
of Veterinary Medicine from Atlantic Veterinary
College in eastern Canada in 2005.  Additionally
she completed a year long rotating internship in
emergency, surgery, internal medicine and
general practice in Rochester, New York.

Outside the hospital, she enjoys playing cards
and games with friends and remodeling
her older home.  She shares her home with
three dogs, who have  remodeling ideas
of their own!

  

Jeff Johnson , DVM

Dr. Jeff Johnson joined the Northgate Veterinary
Hospital Staff in the fall of 2006.  He began
working in the veterinary field as an assistant
at the age of 15.  He is a graduate of the University
of California, Davis, where he received both his
undergraduate degree in biological sciences and
his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Dr Johnson has
a strong background, as well as personal interest in
Avian and Exotic pet medicine.

He enjoys the outdoors, hiking, fishing and
camping during his time away from the hospital.

 

  

 

Cesar Vega, DVM

Dr. Vega joined our team in March of 2008. Originally
from Colombia, he graduated from La Salle College with
his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1998 and practiced
there for 2 years before moving to the United States.
Dr. Vega worked over the next 8 years at VMS, San Mateo,
Bishop Ranch,in Pleasanton, and Oaklahoma State. Dr.Vega
enjoys general practice, but has special interest in
cardiology, oncology, and internal medicine.
 
When out of the practice, Dr. Vega enjoys listening
to Heavy Metal Music, and is an avid mountain biker.

 

 

 

 Amy Lacy, DVM

Dr. Amy Lacy, another Modesto native, graduated from
Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and
worked in Texas for several years before joining our
team in July of 2004.  In 2006, she took a leave of
absence to pursue a unique opportunity to work in
the veterinary hospital at Guide Dogs for the Blind
in San Rafael.  She then returned to work at College
Veterinary Hospital in March of 2007. 

Outside the hospital, Dr. Lacy enjoys running
marathons and horseback riding.  She shares her
home with a multitude of pets.

 


 
Longhai Nguyen, DVM

Dr. Nguyen completed his undergraduate studies
at the University of California at Berkeley and
went on to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary
Medicine from UC Davis in 2004.  Following
graduation he continued his studies by
completing a year long internship in veterinary
surgery and internal medicine in Ventura, CA.
After working locally in general practice
and emergency, Dr. Nguyen joined our team
in the fall of 2007.

He is an avid tennis player and also enjoys
running, ballroom dancing, and completeing
jigsaw puzzles.
